The TM-D710A/E transceiver's Operation Panel and the RC-D710 firmware has been updated from Version 2.14 to Version 2.15 as follows.
We are is offering the firmware updating program to the TM-D710A/E and the RC-D710 owners.
You can update the firmware by connecting the TM-D710A/E Operation Panel (RC-D710) to the PC by using an optional Programming Cable (PG-5G, or PG-5H Serial communications cable).
・The firmware updating program is not applicable for the TM-D710GA/GE.

1. Adds APRS Auto Reply Message Delay Time function.
When you receive an APRS message, operating the transceiver during the delay time will cancel sending an auto-reply message.
In the Menu No.622:[APRS]-[AUTO MESSAGE REPLY]-[REPLY], you can set the value to "OFF", "ON (DELAY TIME NONE)" "ON (DELAY TIME 10 sec)", or "ON (DELAY TIME 30sec)".
Setting to "ON (DELAY TIME NONE)" sends an auto-reply message without delay time the same as before updating the firmware.

2. Adds characters "AA:" which means "Auto Answer" at the beginning of auto-reply messages' text following the recommendation in the APRS SPEC Addendum 1.1.

3. Changes the name of the Menu No.624:[APRS]-[SOUND]-[TX BEEP (BEACON)] to [TX BEEP], and enables the output of a beep sound when transmitting an auto-reply message as well as a beacon (position packet).

4. Adds [EDIT] function on the expanded APRS Message List screen (in function mode).It enables editing of the destination callsign and sentences in received or sent messages and resend.

The number of icons which can display is increased from 25 to 75.

12. When [Menu No.625 : INTERRUPT DISPLAY]-[DISPLAY AREA], is set to [ENTIRE ALWAYS] , "MY POSITION" or "MY MESSAGE" will appear on the interrupted display with the call sign(s) of the digipeater(s).

* Some APRS position packets from the VX-8R/E via IGates might be indicated as "MicE-MSG" instead of the model name "VX-8".It is not radio failure but due to IGate specification. Some IGates may not feed the status text's last letter " "(space) in a VX-8R/E's APRS position packet which is defined in the "Mic-E TYPE CODES" as the part of the VX-8R/E type code.
2. Adds "Balloon" and "Radio" symbols.
* The "Radio" symbol (alternate symbol:\Y) is displayed as an overlay type symbol following the new symbols instruction.(TM-D710A/E, RC-D710)
3. When packet filter is set to "MOBILE", lists mobile stations not only "MOVING" packets but also any packets which have "mobile" symbols (such as car, person...) following the "APRS SYMBOLS (Icons)" specification.

  The following feature is updated.
 
  Improves the internal clock accuracy by changing the correction value calculation procedure.
  The following symptom is revised.
 
  When "RAMTEST" command is executed in PACKET mode, the built-in TNC may not be rebooted until the radio enters the TNC firmware programming mode ([VFO]+[TNC]+Power ON) and exit (Power OFF/ON).

  The following feature is updated.
 
  Adds the ability to display the built-in TNC's firmware version.
 
1. Turn the Power ON.
2. Press [TNC] to enter APRS mode.
3. Turn the Power OFF.
4. Press [PF1] + Power ON.
5. Then the TNC's firmware version appears in the upper right of the LCD display.(Above the Operation Panel's firmware version)
  *In NORMAL mode or PACKET mode, the TNC's firmware version is not displayed.

  Temperature data from a weather station may not be displayed correctly in Celsius below zero.

  Corresponds to the stand alone TNC function in the new product RC-D710 (Control Panel / APRS ready stand alone TNC).
  From this update, the TM-D710A/E's Operation Panel can be used as an APRS ready stand alone TNC (via the optional Interface Kit PG-5J) in the same way as the RC-D710.

  Communications error between the TX/RX unit (main body) and the Operation Panel (such as a sudden reboot) rarely occurs in the Terminal Window mode.

  The following feature is updated.
 
  When 6th digit of the QSY (frequency) information in the received APRS status text message is not a numeric character, then replace with "0"(zero) automatically.

  The following symptom is revised.
 
  "MY POSITION" which is copied from the GPS data might not be stored correctly when the transceiver is turned off.
Applicable models/units :
The firmware updating program is applicable for all units of the TM-D710A/E, and the RC-D710. (They are no longer in production.)
Notes : You can check the firmware version of your TM-D710A/E, RC-D710 by the following procedures.
 
1. With using the MCP-2A
  Select "Model" and then "Product Information" in the MCP-2A menu after connecting the transceiver with a PC by using the PG-5G or PG-5H PC interface cable.
2. Without using the MCP-2A (TM-D710A/E, RC-D710 standalone)
  Press [PF1] + Power ON.
The Operation Panel's firmware version appears in the right side of the LCD display.

  Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0).
6. Peripheral Devices
 
A display with resolutions higher than VGA.(640 x 480)
A keyboard and a mouse, or other pointing devices.
An RS-232C interface.
An optional programming cable.(PG-5G, or PG-5H Serial communications cable)
 
Attention
If you do not want to lose user data, save the data using the Memory Control Program MCP-2A before updating the firmware and write the data back after updating the firmware.

Installation :
1. Extract the downloaded file "TM-D710_RC-D710_OpPanel_V215E.zip" into a designated folder.
In the designated folder, a folder labeled "TM-D710_RC-D710_OpPanel_V215E" will be created.
2. In the folder labeled "TM-D710_RC-D710_OpPanel_V215E", the firmware updating program "TM-D710_RC-D710_OpPanel_V215_e.exe" and "TM-D710_RC-D710_OpPanel_e.chm" are automatically created.

Uninstalling :
Delete the folder labeled "TM-D710_RC-D710_OpPanel_V215E" manually using the Explorer or an alternative method.
